Margaret MacPherson, Community Research Associate, Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC).
Ms MacPherson's work in developing the content and curriculum at the Centre, has provided her with unique insights into the intersections of abuse in relationships, across a person's lifespan. 

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the inter-sectoral relationship of domestic violence and elder abuse.
  • Understanding the prevalence of domestic violence among older adults. 
  • Recognize the dynamics of power and control in relationships of older adult and domestic violence.
  • Identify the risk factors and complexities of domestic violence in older adults.
  • Gaining an appreciation for the need, for interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations, to assist victims of domestic violence.
  • Navigating the range of services available to older adults as victims of domestic violence.
