Elder Abuse Ontario is launching a new (non-credit) course on Foundations of Elder Abuse Education and Prevention.
This introductory-level course is based on Elder Abuse Ontario's Core Curriculum. The course aligns with the goals of Ontario's Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse and provides fundamental continuing education to enhance the capacity of those working with older adults. It is based on the Ontario and Canadian government's laws and elder abuse prevention strategies, and will reflect provincial, national and international best practices.
The course will help professionals who interact with seniors create and maintain an environment of safety and trust in which seniors can live with dignity and respect. The course has been initiated to assist in building the capacity of those working with older adults (such as social workers, nurses, personal support workers, occupational/physiotherapists, counsellors, etc.) to identify and respond to elder abuse.
The course is composed of in-person classes and a few online classes. Participants are required to attend all sessions (in person and via web)
