The Public Trustee is the person appointed by the Provincial Government under the Public Trustee Act, 2009 to protect the financial assets and well-being of clients of the Office of the Public Trustee. Though appointed by the Provincial Government, the Office of the Public Trustee is a Crown corporation created by legislation and operates fully independent of Government.

211 NB is a free, bilingual, confidential resource to help New Brunswickers navigate the network of community, social, non-clinical health and government services.

Call 211 if you have a concern about a situation of inappropriate or abusive behaviour affecting the well-being of an older person. All information you may share will be kept confidential.

You can also call or visit the 211 website for general information, referral, and support to seniors and others for all programs and service in New Brunswick.  It is a place anyone can call for information.  

Department of Social Development
Adult Protection for vulnerable adults. General information and referrals. Provides services to seniors and adults with disabilities who are victims of abuse or neglect.  Adult protection referrals can be made 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The New-Brunswick Department of Social Development recently replaced its eight regional numbers with one provincial toll-free number for the public to apply for all social assistance programs. The new number is 1-833-SDDStel (1-833-733-7835)

Protection for Persons in Care Office 
This Office responds to reports of abuse of persons receiving care in personal care homes, hospitals or any other designated health facility.

The Protection for Persons in Care Act (the Act) is an extra safeguard built into Manitoba’s health care system. This law is to help protect adults from abuse while receiving care in personal care homes, hospitals or any other designated health facility. T

The Act requires that a service provider or other person who has a reasonable basis to believe that a patient is, or likely to be, abused shall promptly report the belief, and the information to the Protection for Persons in Care Office (PPCO) at Manitoba Health.

Domestic Violence and Criminal Harassment Unit (DVACH) - Vancouver Police Department (VPD)
Teams consisting of community counsellors (employed by Family Services of Greater Vancouver) and VPD detectives provide investigative follow-up, emotional support, and advocacy to victims of high-risk domestic violence. There are also VPD officers who deal with criminal harassment, stalking cases, and elder abuse.
